Nihon Karate Domei
In May 2001, Louis Rabouin, Eron Ahmeti and Michael Larkin discussed the idea of bringing the local Shotokan community together to exchange ideas regarding our shared art and to bring a body together to ensure the continuance of the classical instruction of Shotokan Karate-do.
From this meeting the concept of the Nihon Karate Domei (Japan Karate Alliance) was born.
Michael Larkin assumed the directorship upon Rabouin Sensei’s death in 2011.
In 2013 the Shotokan Karate-do Dojo was reopened by Eron Ahmeti and Mr. Larkin.
We have been putting our house in order for the last five years and we are now ready to work on the JKAlliance.
We are reaching out to you, as the Chief Instructor of your dojo, to gage your interest in allying with us to further the development of classical Shotokan Karate-do in the Philadelphia area.
Our interest is in rallying experienced and enthusiastic Shotokan Karate-do instructors to develop a syllabus to ensure a consistent training model and to maintain standards for grade/rank progression.
We are all instructing at small dojos. We are the instructors at the church, school and recreation center. We do not have the support of a major Shotokan organization and we are not running a commercial establishment.
We have been slugging it out on our own.
None of us are in this for the income. I know that we are looking for the outcome.
We teach Shotokan because we want to see the art that we love continue and prosper.
There are no fees involved in JKAlliance membership (unless you want a patch for five bucks), only sharing and member support.
I’m listing a few things that, in my most humble of opinions, would be some of the benefits of JKAlliance membership:
. Fellowship, goodwill and support among small Shotokan dojo
. Pooling resources among affiliates for general benefit
. Access to experienced Shotokan educators
. Broadening of our ideas/training models
. Working together to develop and implement Instructor Training for worthy candidates
I’m certain that there are more.
If any of this is of interest to you, please contact Michael Larkin at skddojo@gmail.com.Let us come together as Shotokan family and seek growth together
